Guided life-story, dream, and imaginative writing for insight and growth
Much of life is spent attending to what is directly in front of us: answering messages, meeting obligations, caring for others, and working to get paid. Yet beneath that visible activity, another part of us is continually remembering, imagining, questioning, and dreaming.
Writing into Presence II is an invitation to listen to that deeper life.
We will begin by sketching the broad shape of our life stories—the significant events, turning points, and consequential choices that helped bring us to where we are now. We will not try to force our lives into tidy explanations. Instead, we will notice patterns, unfinished questions, surprising connections, and moments when a different path became possible.
Then we will enter less familiar territory through dream writing and wakeful dreaming. Dreams often speak through images, sensations, fragments, and unexpected combinations rather than orderly explanations. Through guided writing, we will explore what these other states of consciousness may reveal about the lives we are living.
What is happening deeper within us while we move through our workaday routines? What memories, longings, fears, and possibilities are asking for our attention? What might emerge when we stop trying to find the right answer and allow an image, scene, or voice to lead us?
Session One: The Life We Have Lived
We will create a spacious map of meaningful events and consequential choices, looking for the currents that have shaped our direction.
Session Two: The Dreaming Life
We will write from remembered dreams, dream fragments, recurring images, and the feelings that remain after waking. Through wakeful dreaming and guided imaginative writing, we will also allow new scenes, voices, and possibilities to unfold without requiring the conscious mind to know where they are going.
Session Three: Everyday Miracles
We will look for the glimmers, coincidences, encounters, and moments of unexpected beauty that may be offering us guidance. Through writing, we will explore what becomes visible when we treat these moments not as proof of any particular belief, but as invitations to pay closer attention.
This is not about producing polished writing or arriving at a definitive interpretation of your life. It is about becoming more available to what you already carry—and discovering what may come into view when you meet your life with curiosity.
Writing in Presence is not a prerequisite for Writing into Presence II.
